Marine, Coastal and Polar Geosciences

Marine, Coastal and Polar Geosciences involves the exploration of the processes that are happening in the marine environment, along the coasts and in polar areas. This area deals with the interaction of oceans, coasts, ice and other phenomena in relation to land masses on Earth. In this way, it is able to shed light on some of the most dynamic areas on our planet. The field covers a wide range of topics such as marine geology, the study of coastal areas, the interrelation between land masses and the ocean, seabed processes, polar environments, glaciers and ice sheets, sea level changes, and other processes related to the cryosphere. Environmental effects and climatic changes can also be considered through the prism of this field. In this way, the exploration of the processes in marine, coastal, and polar regions contributes to environmental sustainability and climate research.
