Geology and Geological Processes

Geology and Geological Processes refers to the science of the composition, structure, and formation of the planet earth, including its history, and the processes that are constantly at work shaping our planet. The field studies the formation and evolution of the different rocks, minerals, land forms, and geological structures found on Earth. Some of the topics that are studied in geology include plate tectonics, volcanism, earthquakes, sedimentation, stratification, mineralogy, petrology, geomorphology, and the evolution of Earth's crust. Other topics in geology involve geology resources, geological hazards, and processes affecting landscapes and the environment. Through the advancement of geology and geological processes, many benefits can be gained in regard to the sustainable utilization of the Earth's geological resources.
