One Health and Global Health Security

The One Health and Global Health Security discipline is concerned with the interconnection between the health of humans, animals, and the environment and collaborative approaches for addressing such health issues. The field understands that there are many health problems facing populations that exist at the interface of humans, animals, and the environment, hence necessitating cooperation among various sectors in order to solve such problems. The research topics within this domain include zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance, food safety, surveillance systems, prevention of outbreaks, preparedness of health emergencies, and risk management techniques. Other aspects covered in the topic include policies and frameworks that improve the capacity to detect, prevent, and mitigate any public health risks.
