Medha Panthri is a plant molecular biologist and science publishing professional based in New Delhi, India, currently serving as a DBT Research Associate at the National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR). Her work focuses at the intersection of plant stress physiology, nutrient-metal interactions, and multi-omics research, with a particular focus on how rice responds to pathogen and heavy-metal stress at the molecular level. Medha earned her Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, where her doctoral research examined the cross-talk between arsenic toxicity and iron nutrition in rice — work that uncovered a previously unreported interaction between key transporter proteins and a signaling kinase involved in the plant’s stress response. Her earlier academic training includes an M.Sc. in Industrial Microbiology from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, and a B.Sc. spanning Microbiology, Zoology, and Chemistry from Govt. Holkar Science College, Indore. Over the course of her research career, Medha has authored or co-authored 13 peer-reviewed publications — including papers in the Journal of Hazardous Materials and the Journal of Environmental Management — alongside three book chapters and numerous conference presentations at national and international venues. Her research integrates biochemical assays, transcriptomics, and metabolomics with computational tools such as GraphPad Prism, MetaboAnalyst, and molecular docking platforms to build a fuller picture of how crops adapt to environmental stress. Alongside her research, Medha has built a growing profile in scientific publishing. She serves as a Reviewing Editor and Peer Reviewer for several Springer Nature journals, including Plant Cell Reports, Discover Agriculture, International Microbiology, and Cereal Research Communications, and has completed formal peer-review training through Springer Nature and Nature Masterclasses. This editorial work draws on the same rigor she brings to her own manuscripts — evaluating methodology, data integrity, and clarity of reporting — and reflects her ongoing move toward a career in scientific publishing. Medha is also an active mentor, guiding Ph.D. students and postgraduate trainees in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing. Her achievements include the DBT Research Associateship from the Government of India, a Best Poster Award at the 46th PTCA (India) & CTCPB-2025 symposium, and NET qualification from ICAR-ASRB in Agricultural Microbiology.
